Hand-tooled stone — the tacha tradition of Rajasthan, carried onto modern walls Every mark on these panels was placed by a person holding a chisel. Tacha is the hand-tooling tradition that textured the forts and havelis of Rajasthan, and it produces something a machine cannot: a surface that is regular enough to read as intentional and irregular enough to read as human. Look closely at a tacha wall and you can see where the craftsman's rhythm changed. That is the product, not a defect in it.

Rajasthan solved this problem six hundred years ago and the answer still works. We cut jaali to your drawing — traditional geometries or something nobody has carved before — on CNC, then finish the edges by hand.
